Requirement: A First Class Master's degree in Physics / Geophysics / Applied Mathematics. Preference will be given to those who have Doctorate degree in Geomagnetism OR Allied fields or have 3 years research experience in these fields at a reputed Research Laboratory / Institution / University. Desirable: Research experience in one or more of the following: a) Plasma Physics b) Geophysical Techniques c) Instrumentation d) Numerical Analysis and Matheematical Modelling e) Space Physics. The selected candidates are expected to carry out research and provide scientific assistance in research programs of his/her Area. Maximum Age: 35 years (40 years for ST and 38 years for OBC).

Technical Officer - I (Engineer) 1 Post

Requirement: B/BTech in Civil Engineering (Ist class or high second class) with 4 years experience OR Diploma in Civil Engineering (Ist Class) with 8 years experience. Experience should be in design, construction activities, preparation of estimates, bills, tendering, site supervision and quality control. He/She should be familiar with scrutiny of drawings, BIS codes for Civil works and have worked as site engineer for major RCC works. Desirable: Knowledge of Computer and Auto CAD. Maximum Age: 33 years with relaxation.

1 Post (Reserved for OBC). Scale of Pay: Rs 4500-125-7000. Location: Equational Geophysical Research Laboratory, a Regional Centre of the Institute located at Tirunelvelli. Requirement: A First or High Second Class BSc in Physics / Statistics / Electronics OR First class Diploma in Electronics. Desirable: Working knowledge of Computer Software and Instruments. The selected candidate will assist in Data Analysis / Field work / repair and fabrication of instruments / Observatory work etc. Maximum Age: 31 years with relaxation.

Prescribed application form can be obtained from the office of the Registrar by paying an application fee of Rs 100/- by crossed demand draft in favour of Director, Indian Institute of Geomagnetism, New Panvel either in person between 10:30 AM and 5:30 PM on working days (Monday to Friday) OR it can be obtained by post by sending an application alongwith the application fees and a self-addressed stamped envelope of Rs 10/- superscribing "Request for Application Form". For SC/ST candidates, application form will be issued free of cost on production of valid caste certificate.
