ChairmanCategory: Government jobs Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced candidates, between 45 to 55 years of age, for the post of Chairman of the National Housing Bank ((NHB). The NHB is a national level institution established with the objective of operating as the principal agency to promote housing finance institutions. The Bank was set up in 1987 under an Act of Parliament and is wholly owned by the Reserve Bank of India. The functions of the NHB are aimed at (i) developing a well-structured and sound hosing finance system through the promotion, establishment an support of housing finance institutions, (ii) creating an enabling environment in which housing finance institutions can raise resource, (iii) providing refinance facilities to the housing finance institutions, and (iv) to regulate the activities of housing finance institutions. The Chairman will have the overall executive responsibility for the institutional development and day to day running of the NHB. He will be required to lead an inter-disciplinary team, interact with Central and state Governments, financial institutions, banks, international agencies and others, and will be accountable to the Board of Directors. The candidate should, therefore, possess: * proven management, leadership and immovable skills to build an inspired team * experience of institutional development in the financial, banking, services sector or a Public Sector undertaking * capacity to direct basic and applied research in the sector * ability to influence Government policy in the housing finance sector. Experience in housing, urban and related sectors would be an added qualification. The appointment, which is Delhi based, would be on a contract basis for a period of five years. Salary and other benefits will be commensurate with experience and professional background and in consonance with the entitlement of Chairman and Managing Director of Public Sector Banks.
